BELOT BED

Belot is capable of creating some truly funky alt-pop, and ‘Bed’ is no exception. In the first forty seconds, we drift from the depth of Billie Eilish-esque basslines, through warm layered harmonies and trippy synth melodies and end with an instantly memorable chorus. Belot’s vocal delivery is nuanced and idiosyncratic, and it works perfectly against her minimalist-inspired production style. “It’s about when you have a whole bunch of sexual tension with someone,” she explains, on the song’s background. “Although you’re both doing the polite back and forth of small talk, at the heart of it you really do just want to hook up.” Keep an eye on more from this promising up and coming singer-songwriter. -Dan Peeke
